Summary: The aim of this work is to study the effect of normal loading, slinding velocity and the environment in which the samples are inserted, the friction and wear behavior for polymeric materials (Polypropylene and Polyamide). For the accomplishment of the tests a tribometer with pin-plane configuration with alternating movement was used.
It was used three loads, three sliding velocities and three environments, totalizing nine conditions WHERE each condition counts on five repetitions summing 45 tests, due to the severity of a tribosystem the distance of sliding alternated between 540 m and 108 m.
When working with polymeric materials, some difficulties are encountered when measuring their wear, since they are materials with greater sensitivity to temperature and the presence of humidity, in this way a specific methodology was developed in relation to the temperature and time of drying in the heater.
The behavior of the friction and the wear was performed through the analysis of the data obtained in the tribometer, by the optical microscope and the scanning electron microscopy, the latter was used to identify the mechanisms of wear.
It was observed that for the load variation no wear severity transition was found and the lubricant change did not occur or a significant difference between the wear rates for the polypropylene, but the change in speed provided a change in the severity of the wear being clearly observed this transition, for the polyamide the wear rate was inconclusive.

Key words: polypropylene, polyamide, wear, friction, polymer tribology
