Summary: Sand production affects more than 70% of oil and gas reservoirs worldwide. To control the impacts of solids production in a well, some mechanisms have been developed over the years, including the Stand Alone Screen system, which basically consists of using screens in direct contact with the formation to contain the solids. However, the selection of the appropriate screens is not trivial, as the conditions that favor the formation of solids vary between different wells and laboratory tests are usually used to specify the appropriate type of screen. With this objective, a bench was built that allows the execution of studies under different conditions, in order to simulate the flow In conditions closer to those found in the industry. Tests were carried out with different concentrations of solids, viscosities and particle sizes. For all tests the sand formed on the screen, the flow rate and pressure drop observed in the test section were measured. With the experimental apparatus developed, it was possible to study the behavior of the sand formation and its impact on the flow in different situations.
